Dark Phoenix Vs. Martian Manhunter

It's going to be interesting to see the second attempt at telling the Dark Phoenix Saga on the big screen.  Thew addition of Lilandra to the cast indicates that perhaps this one will be a more comics-accurate version of the tale.  Sadly, I have not heard about casting for any of her Imperial Guard so my hopes for a big throwdown with the X-Men will likely not be fulfilled.

I would guess Lilandra's purpose in this movie will probably be limited to exposition -- explaining what the Phoenix is and why there's a galactic 'shoot-on-sight' order out. And if they go all the way back to Lily's first appearances, her flirting with Charles to get some help to take the throne back from D'Ken, which can be a future movie with the Imperial Guard as the not-so-good guys.

J'Onn's had a pretty busy week. :)

(Oh, and I absolutely love this cover, Ross!)

Yeah I renumbered the J'onn/Thing cover so it fell on Jack's birthday.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Gladiator would be epic....

I have heard the Dark Phoenix movie is going to be "grounded" meaning it may not be cosmic in scale. If true then it will be a bigger let down that the third X-Men movie and Wolverine Origins combined.

Let me guess: Torgo was trying to bash in Ben's brains because--for some reason--he holds the FF responsible for Dark Phoenix destroying his mechanized homeworld. The question is; why would she do that in the first place? My best guess: she was driven to it by Thanos using a slave-disc-wearing Puppet Master!*

*I've often wondered why Marvel never did a Civil War-era "What If...?" centered around Thanos using some kind of back door program to take over the slave discs Tony Stark employed to keep the super-villains under his control. After all, no matter how he modified them, they were still originally based on Titan technology! So, it's perfectly feasible that Thanos would've been able to hack into them...had he ever wanted to.

This could be justified since reports have said that Dark Phoenix could be the start of a trilogy based on the famous saga.
